I love doing this event. A tour that turns into a race, it's a blast. The party afterwards definitly can't be beat. This year the band was Collective Soul. Somehow I was cinvinced to move up into the crowd in front of the stage...I never do this....
yeah the tour/race, A few triathletes start things off and we're doing about 27 off the start line...oh boy. After the first turn, Mr. Rhodes goes off the front and I'm thinking this could be a really long 20 miles. Well he came right back. The pace stayed very high it became a race of attrition. By the time we hit the first of the 3 little climbs we were down to 12 or so (6 of us Savage). On the first part of the first climb Todd and I are up front and he waves me off. As we start up the 2nd part of the climb some guy attacks off my left and I punch the accelerator. By the top, I'm wasted but nobody's coming around me. Apparently I hit it so hard I dropped 5 people and it was all the rest could do to just hang on. So 7 of us took it in the rest of the way. We stuck the 1 non-Savage out front in the final road but as he slowed (22mph) Paul Stock said he'd pull, so I pull through taking it back to 26 and Paul goes to the front with me on his wheel. Todd starts the sprint to right but gets held up by a 15 miler. I took it easily.
