Finished the Mohican 100 mile in 11hrs 25mins, it was hard but I made it! Some of those hills were crazy steep and it isn't all flat road after Wilderness. There was still a lot of single track and hills. I'm glad I did it and I was surprised to see I finished 7th.

It was a tough race but the Weather was beautiful this year unlike last year. The race started off in downtown loudonville. This year they sent the 100milers off first and then they sent the 100km races off 15 minutes later. As we left the starting line I took off and tried to get the preem which is the first rider to reach the out side of the city got 100 dollers. I was first 3/4 up the first hill but then I fell back and got passedd by about Five riders and I didnt end up getting the preem. I recovered for the rest of that first climb and was top 10 going into the single track. I felt good and I was Hammering Away. I was passing people and the Single track was amazing. I Reached the first checkpoint around 9 oclock I was in the top 5, 20 miles in and I filled my water bottles and I got a banana and a power bar from my drop bag then I took off again And I was still filling good and my bike was working great. as I reached stop Two 32 miles in I was not sure what place I was in i think 6 or seven at this point. But after this check point my legs were done they were realy Tired and would be so the rest of the race. I contued to push on as we hit dirt and back roads now. My plan had been to hammer out this section but my legs were realy tired now but I kept up a fast pace through to check point three. I had gotten passed buy some riders on the way to check poit three. I was in the top 15 now. As I filled my bottles with gatorade and ate half a banana I took off only 16 miles to the finish. On my way back there was a huge fire road climb that zapped the rest of energy out of my legs the climb took like 10-15 mins to climb. and I got passed by three more rides then as I hit the fourth and last check point before the fisish mile 56 I didnt even stop I kept goig to make it to the finish. There was one more tough climb climb in the last 5 miles to the finish I made it up the climb then On one of the decents a piece of dirt flew into my eye and ended up scratching it. I would get passed by one more rider on the way to the fisish my legs were completely done when i hit check point Four. But I made it to the finish and got 18th place in 5 hours 52mins. 45-50 mins faster then last year.

Goal was to finish 100K this year and goal was accomplish in 7:52. Good enough to bury me in the middle of pack. Single track was awesome fast and fun. The road climbs, well not as much fun. Yes I do push my bike faster than most of those around me spin granny gear up the mountain(s). Ran out of gas around mile 56 just in time for the last 6 miles of single track. Couple miles of hike a bike to get to the top then I just had to hold going down. Used finisher trophy to partake of complimentary post race beverages provided by Great Lakes Brewing.

Finished!!! What a race. Who knew pain and suffering could be that much fun! Loved the race and can't wait to participate next year... Will do a better job of training to avoid the impromptu yoga sessions at the side of the trail to combat end of race cramping...
